The company press release, which sounds more like a blog vent by a disgruntled ex, explains that LiveUniverse was brutally rebuffed by DivX when it made an initial offer last month. Instead of selling, DivX elected to shut down Stage6. LiveUniverse is now making an offer of $11 million and equity to acquire Stage6 and its assets. LiveUniverse most recently gobbled up video sharing site Revver last month for a paltry $5 million. If DivX went for the deal, Stage6 would use Revver’s Wrapper technology to track and share revenue, along with LiveUniverse’s Live Video technology to build its community. LiveUniverse is currently asking DivX shareholders to persuade the company to take the deal.
