first stop ,buyers guide ,and camcorders compare sample
if you are planing to buy a tape camcorder and thinking about editing .be sure you will follow though with scheduling to edit (doing other things) (1hr recording time is 1 hr rendering time +editing, or 13 gb hard drive storage space) if you fall short. it too will join the millions of earlier tape camcorders who sat unused in time .(but for tv playback) for lack of time and loss interest.
for the casual video shooter, heavy daily usage, a small sd cards cams (pocket size) or a hdd (harder to identified/bulk archiving ) or dvd camcorder ( 20min record time, ) offers convenience as these all can be downloading to hdd in about 7 minutes try (using two ext.hdd as a safety measure ) its more of a quantity in numbers as back up including recovery software tools (this one works) (http://www.migosoftware.com/store/r...v_storehomepage)
and hardware. http://www.newertech.com/products/p..._univ_adptr.php
but minidv and hdv(see editing below) given the extra effort, are the best choice in archiving your valued video .a tape copy as back up, a second copy on hdd ,and dvd for friends (long lasting? questionable) but different media for a better chance of future viewing.
if you are going to buy a high definition camcorder hdv ,or hdd or memory card , just to transfer
to hdd or to copy to dvd (down convert sd)
most computer will have no problem doing so.
but if you are set on doing any editing to your high definition footage
your first step should be to see if your computer has the right
stuff.
compress MOV MPEG-4 H.264 or hdv or AVCHD MPEG-4 H.264 just playing, next rendering of
video files ,demand some crunching of some really huge numbers of
pixels . you could try playing a few h.d. sample that would tell you where you stand. equipment wise,
update new for the smoothest playing of AVCHD video . the test http://www.camcorderinfo.com/bbs/t140105.html
this is the best player and codec tested. to play h.d video.for jvc and mts video files renaming them to mpeg 1 etc,can also play them.
sorta a helpful info/sample compare post . and if your web sample is included thank you, think it as advertisements /R@D money for your favorite brand.
