Samsung MiniDv or Samsung cam w/ CCD, has fallen victim to the "SBSOD" (*Samsung Black Screen of Death), And, you would like to work toward further relief of the situation from Samsung in the form of but not limited to; Public Recall by Samsung of all defective cams, Samsung to replace affected units w/cams of equal or greater value, Formal apology by Samsung to affected customers for failure to handle this problem in an honest, timely and effective manner and finally to subject Samsung to possible punitive action as deemed appropiate by independent authorities!

This petition applies only to those who are experiencing the BSOD* caused by a defective CCD! This condition is characterized by the cam's intermittent or total malfunction of record feature resulting in fuzzy or black screen! Status: Samsung will fix at my cost of $150. Even after prooving to them the vast extent of the problem with this CCD, they refuse to recall or replace this camcorder. Also refusing to answer my emails. Filed and received confirmation of complaint with BBB of NJ.

UPDATE: Received letter from BBB stating they had not received any corrispondance with Samsung reguarding this issue and considered it closed.
UPDATE: Filed formal complaint with Nebraska State Attorney Generals office. Keep sending complaints to Samsung and they refuse to even reply to me now.
UPDATE: Samsung has not responded to State Attorney General either. Looks like this class action suit is our only hope since this joke of a company is refusing to stand behind the incredible junk they sell. That is being polite!

My camcorder worked great up until Halloween last year. I noticed prior to that, the camcorder started having difficulties in darker settings. I had to turn on extra lights during evening hours.

The lcd screen suddenly went black during recording. I was able to get the screen back by pulling the battery out and then putting it back in. That stopped working recently. I noticed that if I hold the photo button (without a SD card in), the lcd also comes back. Not all the time but if I keep playing with it, it will.

Its quite frustrating to lose the video right in the middle of recording and spend a hour trying to get it back while missing the whole reason I pulled the camcorder out in the first place.

Repair center said since it's out of warranty that they don't repair, so I would have to send it to CVE Depot repair in New Jersey. When I told her that the tech support at Samsung sent me to her... she said "Yeah, they aren't the greatest or the easiest to deal with."

Guess we should have bought the extended warranty plan from Best Buy... Our camera was originaly $1200, but we got it on clearance for $795. It still takes stills ... so I guess it's good for that and playback.
