The specific issue I'm having is that when I go to capture I get an error message saying: "the capture process could not be completed as there is no video." I'm using Final Cut Express 4 and a JVC GR-HD1 camcorder. The DV tapes were shot on this camera and there are no issues playing them back.

I had run into this problem before and have done a little research, the theory is that my camera (due to age) is having difficulty talking to the newer editing software (also had a similar problem with Vegas). The tapes do work as I eventually got another set of tapes transferred with a DV deck (another project). Since I'm traveling at the moment I don't really have easy access to a DV deck (that I know of).

My question is this: Is there any solution to this problem via codecs, updates, and/or system setting changes?
